Creating the mattress. Cut layers of fiberfill until you have total height of 6cm
To create the mattress, you start with cutting fiberfill layers that fit exactly in the bed. The inside bed is 48cm x 31cm. You keep adding layers until you have 6cm in total height. For me this was three layers. I like mattresses that are very lofty : )
The fiberfill doll bed mattress is covered with fabric. This is the summer side.
I covered the doll bed mattress with the fabrics from my free fabric bundle : ) and as you can see it's an amazing bundle. Because my fat quarters are directional and I did not want to use the fabric sideways, I had to add strips to the top and the bottom. It works out fine.
This is the other side of the mattress, the winter side.
To secure the fiberfill layers and prevent them from shifting around inside, I stitched 6 buttons through the mattress, front to back. The actual pattern will be available later....

Vandaag heb ik het matrasje voor het poppenbedje gemaakt. Voor de matrasvulling knip je laagjes fiberfill van 48cm x 31cm totdat je een hoogte van ongeveer 6cm hebt. Ik vind volle zachte matrasjes altijd het leukste om te zien.

De stof, die ik gratis gekregen heb, is prachtig zoals je kunt zien. Precies goed voor een poppenbedje. De meeste stofjes hebben een richting en voor 1 volledige kant van het matrasje is de stof net te kort. Ik wilde de stof niet overdwars gebruiken dus daarom heb ik aan de bovenkant en onderkant een rand aan gestikt.

Omdat de laagjes fiberfill aan de binnenkant los van elkaar zijn, heb ik 6 knopen door het matrasje gestikt. Nu kunnen de laagjes niet meer over elkaar schuiven. Het patroon zal pas later verkrijgbaar zijn...
