- T-Shirt D
- Legging E/F
- Slouchy Beanie G
- Legwarmers H
- Pull Over Cowl J
You can find the pattern here: Baby Casual 1
This is a 2020 pattern and seam allowance is included in the pattern pieces. Further there is a detailed sewing description with photos of all the different sewing steps. When you purchase the pattern you can pick your download version, A4 or Letter size.
The pattern consists of ready-to-cut paper pieces that will allow you to sew all the items mentioned. All pattern pieces are full size and the pieces do not overlap.
All clothes are made with knit fabrics. Knit fabrics require some experience but the clothes themselves are easy to sew. In this pattern I use fold over elastic to finish most edges. This is a material that I enjoy a lot. It's easy to use and results in a very professional finish. To create these clothes like I made them, fold over elastic will be a requirement.

Wollyonline Baby Casual Pattern for Baby Born dolls with a Short Sleeved Hoodie
Doll Patterns 43cm 9:17:00 AMThe sewing for the Wollyonline Baby Casual sewing pattern is finished, yay! The patterns are designed and only the description needs to be typed and the pattern pieces drawn in the computer. Here you see a few more items that will be included in this pattern.
There will be a short sleeved hoodie with pocket. As you can see, these clothes make extensive use of my new favorite material, fold over elastic. This material is a must for doll clothes made with knit fabrics. The finishing of edges is easy and looks professional.
The doll cowl is a pull over and very easy to make.
The leggings are nice and tight, this was a request on the wollyonline facebook fan page: a snug fit. The leg edge and waist is finished with fold over elastic.
OK, now on to completing the description and pattern pieces.
Cheers,

This last week I have been working on a new pattern for Wollyonline. On Facebook the wollyonline fans asked for a hoodie and It took me some time to find a hood design that I liked and the front crossover was the winner.
I didn't want to split the front with an ugly horizontal seam and so I fitted the cross over part into the neck seam. I also didn't want any Velcro or closures and so it's a pullover hoodie. It's wide enough for a T-shirt/romper to fit underneath because it's my experience that kids will try and dress their dolls very warmly.
As you can see this pattern will rely heavily on fold over elastic. It uses all qualities of the material and in virtually all of the pieces. You may not have used it before but I'm sure that once you have used it a few times it will be your favorite material too. It's a joy to use!
Then for the more fitted pants I made leggings. They could be even tighter but I always prioritize ease of use if I have to make that choice. I did make tighter ones but it was too much pulling and tugging.

Wash Away Sticky Tape for Sewing Doll Clothes made with knit fabrics is a MUST
Sewing Techniques 9:12:00 AMOne product that I always use when sewing doll clothes with knit fabrics is wash away sticky tape. It's an absolute must for me and I will not sew knit doll clothes without it. Especially when clothes open at the back, the center back seam will stretch outwards and that annoys me no end....
The photo shows the Dritz brandname sticky tape, Wonder Tape, that I use. This brandname version is pricey and a roll dwindles fast. At the same time there are many generic versions of this same material available. Those are MUCH larger rolls and economical in use. However, my sewing machines are expensive and so I personally won't use the generic version of this material because if I gum-up my machine I'm out of a ton more money than the cheaper tape saved me and it's not worth it for me. Something to think about.
Here I use Wonder Tape along the center back of a small T-Shirt. It's very easy to use, you simply tape it down, along the edge and remove the paper backing.
Next you fold it over to the right side, press to secure. And you can stitch the edge down. I always use a zigzag for that.
As you can see, the seam stays completely flat and there is no chance for this without the tape.
Have a great day with lots of sewing!

The T-Shirt for BD1622, Baby Casual 1, is ready and I have found a new favorite material! Drumroll please! Fold Over Elastic is an absolute joy to finish cuffs and collars with. It's exceptionally easy to use. If you work with knit fabrics and have not used this type of elastic, please go out and try it.
The thing is that I'm not a great fan of rib knit for doll clothes and so I could never quite get things to where I wanted them. Rib knits get bulky quickly and only the very best quality will hold up over multiple washes. Fold Over Elastic is a game changer.
If you think that this looks a lot like bias tape and you are not a fan of bias tape? I agree with you: it looks a lot like bias tape and I dislike using bias tape too. In fact, I will try anything to avoid it. Fold over elastic is completely different! It's easy to use and about the easiest way you will ever finish an edge on knit fabric.
How to use fold over elastic for cuffs and edges: Place the wrong side of the fabric edge you want to finish, on the shiny side of the fold over elastic.
I consider the shiny side the wrong side. Line the fabric edge up with the elastic fold line.
You don't have to be too precise, it's a very forgiving material. In the pattern I will tell you where to mark the elastic so you know how much you need to stretch it out.
Cheers & Happy Sewing,
